Sculptures in stone and wood
Flemington New Jersey

Adam Chou is a multi-media artist sculpturing in stone and wood mostly, and also working, mainly, in abstract painting. His Chinese background has instilled in him a sense of balance in lines and shapes, and the western culture has influenced his sense of colors.

Blackstone. It represents a woman reclining in a sitting position supported by one arm with legs curved up. The sensual lines are shown by the larger block as the body and legs by the smaller one. The hole is to relief the solid outline of the stone. Naturally she is not a "skinny model", but a voluptuous woman.

Wood. It is patterned after an African clay status as a woman sitting with arms around her legs. With my curving, it becomes a young girl with staring eyes and a innocent querying expression. She is puzzling about the world around her.

A solid piece of black wallnut. The cub is playing and the mother is intensely watching about actions happenning in front, twenty feet away. She is alert and ready to protect the cub. The mother is more like a teddy bear than a true bear for effect.
